Corporate Social Responsibility

More is less
Our 3-year growth plan is aggressive, but also sustainable. Rather than expanding vertically, AFW will spread laterally, growing geographically. This allows us to have a wide sponsorship offering, while staying accessible and available to designers & local talent.

Get out the green paint
Even a grass-roots fashion week can thrive amidst the tar & SUVs of Alberta.
While doing this, here are a few things we’re working on to make our carbon footprint a little smaller:
  • Use wind power when available
  • Print on 30% post-consumer paper
  • Carpool to meetings
  • Work during daylight hours
  • Spend more, buy less (FluVog)

Our mandate
Foster the fashion community while enabling designers to sell to national and international buyers.

Why we do it
We live and work in our own community, and can see the fruits of our efforts quickly. Growing our fashion offering benefits our talent and economy.

Designer exclusivity
When designers participate in Alberta Fashion Week, they are, and continue to be, free to participate in any other fashion week(s) and/or event(s). By this standard we hope to show that we do not see designers as a type of property.

United Way of Calgary & Area

Alberta Fashion Week will donate 20% of our net ticket proceeds from the March 2010 shows.

United Way gives individuals and families the opportunity to reach their potential and improve their quality of life. Whether we fund programs that teach conflict-resolution skills to a high-risk family, enable a senior to live independently or help a high school student stay in school, United Way’s impact is local, tangible and meaningful.
